Dr. Saad Sadd is a phenomenal pediatric surgeon who arose from living in poverty during childhood to being not only a surgeon, but also an innovator in the field of pediatric surgery. Saad was born in Palestine and was raised by his parents in Kuwait while he was surrounded by six siblings. After earning his degree in medicine, Saad completed an internship in England before making the decision to immigrate to the United States, where he still lives today in New Jersey.
Dr. Saad Saad’s career has taken him around the world. He has completed thousands of surgeries on pediatric patients and during the course of all of those surgeries, he saw a need for improvements. Instead of realizing those needs and just ignoring them, Saad worked and researched to invent instruments that would address the problems. The first of these inventions addressed the problem that every time a doctor needs to find a catheter, a patient has to undergo an X-Ray or MRI to locate it. Saad instead worked and created a special catheter that uses electromagnetic energy to be found without a scan. Basically, this invention works similar to a metal detector. The doctor simply waves a finding device over the general area of the catheter and when it picks up an electromagnetic current, the light on the finding instrument lights up, thus informing the doctor of the location of the catheter. His next invention involved the endoscope. The problem that Dr. Saad Saad kept running into was that during an endoscopic procedure the lens of the camera would get blocked by bodily fluids. It dawned on Saad that the scope needed to be fitted with a vacuum of sorts so that the fluids could be suctioned away for a clear view again and that is exactly what led Saad to his invention.
Dr. Saad Saad lives in New Jersey and his opinion is still commonly sought after by younger surgeons. He is an individual who truly has worked to improved his field of pediatric surgery and has did well at that task.
