As such, the core of the meeting was to improve the healthcare industry in Puerto Rico. In her perspective, Kokkinides thought it was wise to propose increased funding for Medicare following the 2011 federal cut.

As it is, she hopes that CMS will save Puerto Rico. Therefore, that would fix the federal cuts by lifting off the overall charges. However, should the medical systems collapse, the Island will be consequently be evacuated as many will run to the United States for more sustainable medical care systems. For that reason, Penelope Kokkinides hopes that the United States of America intervenes for more affordable healthcare costs.
